This things are VERY IMPORTANT especially if you going for summoner class like necromancer or caster class like sorceress. 8 skill shortcut on F1 - F8 are simply not enough because MXL are fast pace game and not to mention they are far from comfortable hand resting place (usually left hand around WSAD,CTRL ALT while right hand on mouse itself) You try bind keys on mouse (if possible) especially if you have more than 2 buttons mouse. 1. step push "Esc" for geting into the diabloII menu and klick on OPTIONS and then on CONFIGURE CONTROLS 2. step on the next pic you can see the list for configure the shortcuts (eg. for open your inventar per inventar, open merc inventar, skilltree... and the skill bottons) general the skillbottons are F1 - F8. but you can although give them an alternative botton, when you click on on the CONFIGURATION SCREEN on the line of "Skill 1" ... than you can choose a botton of your choise... 3. step finish with ACCEPT Credits go to [clueso] and screenshot done by me. Fighter / Ranger Class Fighter / Ranger class are type of class that rely on weapon dmg multiplier skill that usually have problem during low level and pick up speed pace as they become higher level and getting much better equipment. General Item Stats to get %Enhanced Damage Max Dmg %Life / Mana steal %Increased Attack Speed B. Caster Class Generally is for class that speciallize on using elemental and magic skill to kill their opponent. There are many type caster as well, some good in defensive skill while some more toward offense. Since most of caster spell become more and more powerful as their level-up, their gameplay speed are usually fast as long their level are around monster level of that area. But usually most of this build will have difficulty in high-end game because of caster class are usually lacked of survival skill. General Item Stats to get %Fast Cast Rate %Spell Damage Energy Factor %Mana Regen C. Summoner Class Summoner class are type of class that rely on their summon to do most of killing while keeping themselves away from harm. Summoner class are usually the fastest and easiest class to level up solely because their minion have increased life and dmg on higher players setting which mean higher experience rewards as well. But usually summoner class will have problem later on in high-end as well because it required dedicated gears for them to be very effective in area which full of elemental damage or high-damaging monster. Because those gears, they likely not to have defensive skill for themselves. Most important thing for summoner class are keeping your minions and YOURSELF alive. General Item Stats to get %Minion Life %Minion Resistant %Minion Damage Any buff spell that can affect minion. D. Special / Hybrid Class Hybrid are combination of 2 above class into one. They tend to split their gears between 2 type. Some focus for more offensive spell with minion to keep monster off and some them focus on disable / debuff skill while minions do a little bit more job. Hybrid can get item stats based on above list. Special class are mostly what i say special case which sometimes will apply from above saod type but some of them are totally different whole build. This include build like charmer, fortress barb, oskill-er (wyrd for example), reanimate necro, and few more. Usually this build are REALLY HARD to play unless you are well experience with MXL. 3. LEVELING GUIDE Low Level Gameplay (1- 50) _______________ACT 1_______________ Your first goal would be to get to lvl 24 as fast as possible. This will unlock all of your skill so that you experience which skill you want or not to use in entire game. Incase you dont want to waste skillpoints, i suggest you read the document or simply ask in forum (dun ask for best build, go try find something that suite your game styles). Try get as much jewel for secret jewel RW to make your life easier. Andariel usually pretty much beatable by lvl 24 on all players setting, different would be how long you will take to kill her. As for elite, most of them are pretty easy even with crappy gear. But beware for smith, lament, warforged shaman and the geng, bloodfire rogue (bow with stun/ spear with lightswarm). D1 knight also make their return in cathedral near inner cloister. A. Fighter / Ranger Class At low level, your killing speed are very slow (unless you go for elemental dmg). It required you to keep upgrade your gear for you keep killing speed up. My suggestion would be to get mercenaries and keep her alive. I also suggest that you refrain from getting too much +skills because most of the spell have very high increase mana cost for your current level. Additionally, if you can afford alot %mana leech, go ahead so that you keep spamming your main skill while getting alot +skills same time. B. Caster Class First 12 level are quite easy for most caster class. This because your spell keep improving with your character level and mana cost still the same while your mana pool become larger. Depend on class, usually you wont have enough mana if you keep hogging +skills item, but if have mana leeching / recovery skill (mana tide totem, rune of mana, mana sweep), go ahead pump +skills all you want. But if you feel like you need some meat shield, feel free to use summon mystic orb. I suggest take element that you dont have. C. Summoner Class Once you have your summon, turn players setting to players8!! That would increase your leveling much faster compared to other class. Usually at low level, your summon can sustain on their own which will allow you to neglect your gears for most of the part. Keep skill level to keep you enough to summon for most of time without need to waiting too long. D. Special / Hybrid Class Hybrid usually will need to focus on 1 of their specialty first in low lvl and not to mention since it will be hard to keep up your both side gears with your current level. Sometimes it suggested you go for caster / summoner first as it will be much easier. As for special class, all you need will be PATIENCE. Some are tricky to use while it will very weak at such low level. By lvl 24, you usually have your needed skill, but if too hard for you, going for hybrid or getting some oskill might be good idea. _______________ACT 2_______________ Act 2 are special where DIFFICULTY INCREASED DRAMATICALLY. If you still have your starting equipment, i suggest you to get better gear especially in %resist! 3 famous elite in entire act 2 are would be hivehost (poison), gaystar (fire) and ice clan + shredder (cold). This act it also where you need to play tactically (not whack n whack n die) because some of them are very dangerous. Special mention would be tomb curse with darkwarden proc, gaygoyle with shower of rocks. Also beware of harem! Some bosses that appear in act2 also quite hard if you dont have right gears, radament (get lightning resist!) lightning wall are instant and deadly while static orb even deadlier if foolish enough to stand still till the orb hitting your head. Summoner also would be difficult part as it will keep summon INCLUDING ELITE WHICH COME IN PACK!. Rush him or getting pax mystica RW staff would be good idea. Duriel is another matter, dun expect he will be any easier. Most of his (i believe he is male) skill are deadly when its connect and not to mention room are very small. After killing him, prepare to meet tyrael and 2 SURPRISES! _______________ACT 3_______________ This assuming you around 30++ level, with up-to-date gears this would be easier than act 2 but problem would travelling through all forest area. Special mention elite would be ALOTS! Charging marble frog, shock nova knight, starburst buzzsaw, hidden fetish hunter / snipers, summon-killer djinn and few more. My suggestion would be stacking resist as usual with alot Fast Run / Walk (FRW) since it will required you to hit + run tactic alot and not to mention this act IS HUGE! Not much to mention except becareful inside durance of hate with some few elites. Mephisto would be 2nd summoner encounter which it will very easy or very hard depend on your killing speed. _______________ACT 4_______________ Another act that required you be always on your toes. Tactic are required here and there alot DANGEROUS monster which including normal foe. lolcat, living flame, fire blood are among you to beware of. Normal monster also can give you headache with their nasty skill ranging from corpse-explosion spit, dead-body trap, cold-ghost turret that always aim at you. Bosses, izual have deadly spike-from-above, high life and cold nova to keep your life hard enough, smith not much different from act1 counterpart. Diablo 2 however different matter, HE IS NOT ALONE! he still can summon minion (either elite or normal), casting satelite-beam (lol kidding) and deadly-super-knockback-that-can-kill-everything skill. _______________ACT 5_______________ Apply your knowledge same here as well. Monster are still hard as usually. Depend either you completed level challenge or not, difficulty might be too difficult for some people and easier for other. From my experience usually it far easier than act 4 BUT their bosses are MUCH DEADLIER. As long you can kill bosses without dying, other monster are pretty much easy for you. Special mention here would be throne of destruction because of nasty surprised that laz.. i mean baal give you during 5 waves phase. I wont spoil it for you, but i suggest get high poison resist (3 of them have poison skill) and very good defensive stats. Baal himself not hard, but final battle would be random either you will fight lonely baal or horde of baals (see it yourself to believe!) It really HIGH RECOMMENDED that you would be around 45 to beat baal but too close to 50 as then you would need to do Level Challenge first before baal (because you can get better rune from terror countess and +1skill from den of evil) Mid Level Gameplay (51 - 90) All strategy applied to hatred can be use in terror. But be warned that now monster higher harder and you need as much % resist as possible. This is the difficult you at least want to reach first before venturing into destruction. As long you can get uberskill at around act3, i can guarantee you pretty much can swipe through the rest of terror without much problem. Refer to tips and trick on getting fast leveling up. High Level Gameplay (91 - 120) Got your uberskills? Good, it will make your life much easier. Again, get every maximum stats as possible as you can. Your current at start would be trying reach lvl 119 before triggering ancient quest in act 5. Getting all possible ubercharms ARE HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. It will make your journey through most part of destruction easier. 4.CHALLENGES This 4 challenge are the other get special mention. Reason would be that you can miss those benefit entirely unless you restart from beginning again. Here im trying to give general guide for each build for particular challenges. None of them all easy, but i hope my guide could provide a little help for you to past it. ____________________LEVEL CHALLENGE This challenge required to be below 50, 60, 70 level for certain sunstones and kill the boss + cube to get some nice bonus. My recommend would be to do this quest by lvl 48 as you got your skill breakpoint every 6th level, and 48 are just nice below 50. Whenever your build, kiting are main strategy here. Even powerful summoner can easily fell to hundred of arrows. Also, get pax mystica as it will prove to be useful in this area. A. Fighter / Ranger Class Firstly get as much as %attack ratting as possible. I tried with certain build, nothing more frustating than missing hitting amazon with 60% only chance to hit. Try get higher than 80 first, then concentrate on other part. Since %life/mana steal are working at 100% in hatred, it might good idea as well to stack as much as possible. For melee char usually will required you to stack alot defense to tank alot of arrow. If your shield blocking speed are slow, go for 2hand and kill them as fast as possible. If all strategy fail, try get wyrd oskill so you cast and run. B. Caster Class I might say that if you long range caster, this will be breeze as long you dun kite too much of amazon. Since general caster are fragile build, i recommend to get as much FRW as possible (cannonball RW is good example) so you run away from arrow if too much of them coming toward you. You might as well want to use staff weapon for enormous fast cast speed bonus. C. Summoner Class This could be your worst nightmare. Despite summoner able to clear hatred easily with players 8, but here it all different matter. Nothing more scarier than 10 amazon killing your summon and proceed toward you! First get pax mystica as it will lifesaver here. Since 90% of summon are melee, it will require you to be close range with amazon as well or your summon will simply run back to you crying (with possiblity of dozen of arrows). My suggestion here would be getting many de-buff as possible (stun, slow, reduce monster dmg) as well as aoe buff (bloodlust, pact of blood). You might as well required to use summon oskill MO like daystar to deal amazon from across the screen. ____________________ENNEAD CHALLENGE This arent a challenge really, as long you high level and good equipment you can blast through hatred s K3KBA and get your class charm. It mentioned here because YOU MUST BE BELOW LEVEL 80 TO DO IT. If you ignore this, you will regret your entire MXL experience. ____________________ATTRIBUTE CHALLENGE 250 (AC250) Woohoo, now this challenge are split into 2 component, First would be surviving horde of elites while getting optical detector. 2nd would be survival against F1-racer ethereal. Since there no level requirement for it, not need to rush it. However, you can rush to act 5 from beginning of destruction so that you can benefit for other challenge / uberquest. There are cheesy way to do infernal machine, but im not sure if laz allow me to share it. Something to do with detection range. ____________________ATTRIBUTE CHALLENGE 500 (AC500) This is FREAKING HARD, i dun recommended you to do it on first char unless you know what you are doing. Akarat now are simply WAY HARDER especially for melee and summoner and cathedral of vanity are simply will required to try it alot of retry (if too easy it wouldnt be a challenge isnt it?). Bonus are really small compared to the challenge, but if you a perfectionist i guess you will do anything to obtain it wouldnt it? (twink, cheese, blablabla). For akarat, you more in needed of mine / trap skill to kill (him / her ?). With some strategy, it not really tough as much as people think it is. You simply need akarat, 1 follower and powerful skill able to kill it within 5 sec time frame of vulnerability. Try use your surrounding to do it, like summon them in building in topleft of screen, shooting from across lake after summon them infront of rathma square s door. No suggestion for melee, but i wonder if multiple wyrd could kill them easily. As for CoV, first get blink skill. 2nd alot of TP books. 3rd Use typical lure + blink + TP strategy. 4 Dodge starburst, death spiral while killing orb. 5 profit!. Sound simple? Not really. Your skill / gear / luck will be tested to limit especially when you have less 500 stats. Did i mentioned that you could use signet (check cube recipe doc) to provide you some stats to make your life easier? Just get ready to try alot of times to do this. Not easiest challenge as all. Lastly, would need to resort to ubercheesing. All character able to do it. As long you know what requirement is. As long crystal orb are down, other become much easier. 5.TIPS TRICK This section will be for some places used extensively for super-leveling so that you can become stronger, more skillpoint to use, and get to use more items! It also known strategy to get / save some of experience potion or GEX pot (refer doc how to make it) for this kind of moment if you really need some experience boost. Death projector. Well know uberquest for experience super-leveling. Not going much to tell about it (as there are youtube video for it). My suggestion is place are heaven for build that have powerful single-target killer (even summoner will have some problem here). Bremmtown Im not use this place much for leveling, but i read much as long you can keep them from hitting you and you get yourself powerful crowdkiller, this place are great even without using GEX pot. Monster here have blink skill with chill property that surely slow you down + killing you, but as long there are summon to tank (try summon further deep into the area so monster blink to them instead of you. High-recommend for summoner. Baal s Heroic and Mini-Infernal Machine. You will need to pass this at least once for every difficulty. Some say it too hard, some say it just a breeze, i say it depend your skill and build setup. I think place another good for summoner / trap class. Experience are very nice especially on /players 8. Not to mention you can go to town between each of wave to refill your potion or something. A. Getting good stats. This basically some stat (item / skills) that certainly have their on cap or not. Some of it are easily reachable while some requirement intensive amount of item finding to reach it. Get any stat that really help your build and maximize as much as you cant. It probably missing something like summoner s gear, but i will try add as much as i can. Completing your class sets. First im gonna tell you, SET NOT ALWAYS BEST ITEM FOR YOU even when you have first bonus on it. Although some of stat are hardly available on other item, but most of set arent focus toward your build EXACTLY. The reason would be, shrine crafting, powerful sacred unique, customizeable RW. But if you still searching for build currently, and you somehow complete the set, feel free to use it, dun expect you to use it whole game. Best part of set would be for twinker. Get full set, get alot -% requirement jewel. Give to other lvl 100 char, blast through terror and destruction. Well that how i do to my caster sorc. But later in late game, i still hate to use the set because of weapon setup, so im comfortable to change her into melee sorc instead (Wait a guide for it!) C. Unique and Sacred Unique. Unique are among item that not unique in MXL. Just because we get used to cLoD s term, so we have to call it unique despite in MXL, uniqueness of item only applied to sacred item counterpart. Unique somewhat i say less customizable, but contained some powerful affix that not usually available for some class. While RW and set somewhat general made for certain class build, unique somehow made for certain skill playstyle, making some unique become main trend for guide to include it (confusing word huh?). Anyway, unique are nice, but unique are NOT ALL item you have in MXL. If you can afford it, go ahead, but if you cant try find another good alternative for it. As for Sacred Unique, GOOD LUCK ON FINDING IT! If you found it, you deserved to use it (use dupe recipe incase you want to spread it around / making few backup of it so you can play around with MO or something) D. Runeword / JewelRuneword Another breakthrough made by Laz, since you no longer need multiple amount of runes, it mean you no longer need grind / farming for good RW. Additionally since jewel are part of the runeword, you also can customize it!. Imagine 20 of jewels (all gear slot) that specially made for your build and you put in any your favourite RW (even low-level one!). Imagine for unlimited possiblity!. Not much to say, as long you get your needed great rune, you to keep trying maximize your character until you can clear destruction fauztinville later. There some strategy involving. Have you notice RW and rune requirement been lowered to 100? Have you wonder why did laz do that? Here the answere Ever heard if you heard %ED capped at 350 unless you use socketables? Now you can!. 1st, get superior item with lucky upgrade (almost perfect stats) 2. Since no jewel/ rune ever reached 100 lvl requirement you can upgrade your gear 10 times 1st! 3. After get 10 upgrades of ED from MO, now put you jewel and RW. 4. BOOM! now you have gear with more than 350% ED capped (even without bonus on jewel!) E. Shrine Crafting / Blessing / I PWNED QT recipe. F. Crafting you jewels. Dupe recipes on steroids. G. Ubercharms H. Very-High-End Uberquest
